Karlen at SaloneSatellite 2024:

A Fresh Take on locally produced recycled materials.

At the 25th edition of SaloneSatellite, held in April 2024 at Fiera Milano Rho, Karlen made a thoughtful debut with a collection that celebrates material circularity and local production.

Central to the presentation was Pierluigi, a sculptural side table made from locally produced recycled concrete—an exploration of texture, mass, and form that bridges design with sustainability. Minimalist in silhouette yet rich in story, Pierluigi embodies Karlen’s commitment to rethinking waste as raw material.

Another showcase of locally sourced recycled materials was integrating recycled plastic panels into updated versions of existing pieces.

In the Wall Mirror Oskar, the panels offered an alternative to the original solid wood and plywood frame, creating a fresh take on a beloved design.
For the Vincent sideboard, the traditional metal sliding doors were replaced with thin, semi-transparent plastic panels, developed specifically
for this showcase. Their subtle translucency introduced a bold pop of color and a tactile contrast to the wooden frame, while the smooth surface and distinctive patterns drew the attention of curious visitors.

SaloneSatellite, known for spotlighting emerging talents under 35, provided the ideal stage for Karlen’s material-driven narrative. While the event also honored works like Studio Ololoo’s "Deformation Under Pressure" lamp and Filippo Andrighetto’s "Veliero" bookcase (salonemilano.it), Karlen’s collection stood out for its fusion of local craftsmanship, sustainability, and clean, contemporary design.
